LaLiga's warning to all those using pirated IPTV: "You have football, but they have you."

With less than a week until the start of the new LaLiga season, all the teams are preparing for it, just as the governing body is getting everything ready.
And one of the areas LaLiga has had the greatest impact on, as we saw last year, is putting an end to piracy in football, which according to them has an estimated impact of between 600 and 700 million euros in losses for Spanish clubs alone.
For this reason, practically since the beginning of 2025, the organization chaired by Javier Tebas has been conducting a vigorous and controversial crackdown on any type of pirated football broadcasts in Spain. To this end, they have taken a series of measures, many of them of questionable legality, to block and remove any link or website that broadcasts football matches without permission.
This practice led to websites of legitimate businesses and even public institutions being blocked, preventing users from accessing them, especially on weekends, and causing monetary losses to those who had nothing to do with the games.
But as LaLiga reminds us, piracy isn't just wrong because it's stolen content. There's a danger that many of us overlook when accessing pirated websites or installing IPTV to watch matches.
"You have pirate football. They have you."And behind many of these links, which are generally safe and simply seek to provide an affordable alternative for those who want to watch football but can't afford the high prices, there are also some that have been designed by cybercriminals to steal your personal and banking information.
"Accessing pirated content opens the door to uncontrolled access to personal information and devices by third parties, with risks that go beyond the visible ," LaLiga points out.
Spain is among the European countries with the highest rate of consumption of pirated audiovisual content , especially among younger audiences, according to reports from the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO). LALIGA encourages fans to access the newly launched LALIGA 2025/26 matches only through official channels, which guarantee a safe, legal, and privacy-friendly experience.
The problem is, and will continue to be (until something is done), that prices are too high . The solution lies in finding a balance, as other entertainment media outlets have done, such as Spotify with music, since music is rarely pirated these days.
